random sales
on: December 30, 2006, 10:35:30 PM
ok.  tonight i was drawn in to a kitchen shop that had a 50% off sign out front.  i found some cookie cutters - etc.  but what was really nice is finding unique items that i never heard of.  like the 'spork.'  it is a spoon and fork combination that you can use for hors d'oerves.   they're kinda midgitish and cute.

also, i found an awesome 'teabread' cookbook.

anybody else go shopping for no reason at all - except to buy something on sale?

I'm trying to avoid the sales, my budget won't permit... but shops I can always go in for no reason - second hand bookshops, camera shops, and obviously music shops. There's a fabulous second hand sheet music shop in Glasgow I always go in when I'm in the area regardless of whether I need new music... I prefer second-hand sheets to new ones.

Me went to Bluewater today.

Walked round the shops, paid £2.75 for a crappy coffee and went home.

Me does not like shopping centres.

I bought some fly Asics kicks from Footlocker and a 4.0 GB Sandisk Flash key from Future Shop. The shoes were like $40 cdn off, and the USB key was about $89 off.  :)

I bought some Henle scores today, but they were NOT on sale.

hmm.  credit card debt.  let's see...last year - we had none - this year we have it again.  my advice is to keep on top of it -like it's somekind of fire.  i notice that a lot of women around pa use cash only for everything from groceries to clothing items, etc.  it's the way to go nowdays.  it's just that after the bills are paid and the groceries bought - when you come to those little items that are not really necessary - is where it adds up.

have a family member tie your hands and feet when you want to go to the mall.  sit there until the feeling passes.  you will then have that million dollars in your retirement account that suzy orman talks about.  for people like me - it is fairly hopeless on some days because what i want becomes a need.  i rationalize it to be a bigger need as i drive to the place.  i'm learning that it's really a matter of self-discipline.  to say - ok, i could take that money and put it into savings.  but, who does?

are henle scores EVEr on sale?  i'm just wondering.

My sister, mother and I went to a Boxing Day Sale.  We were determined to spend zilch.

We came home with $30 worth of crap we didn't need.  *rolls eyes*

that's fantastic.  keep it that way.  i mean - pay off the person and stay out of debt.  it will keep you sane.  we paid off a credit card bill entirely and they still charged us $29. for being a day late on payment.  it makes me want to wring their necks.  they get it out of you in so many ways.  just better not to use credit cards unless you are dying.
