Ringtones
on: January 07, 2007, 07:12:46 AM
The ringtones on my cell phone are rubbish.  And I don't want to pay for a ringtone that is some popular beat right now but will be outdated in three weeks.  Is there anywhere to get free ringtones, or classical ringtones?  Even better--- can I make my own from an mp3?  That would be sweet.

Get a free music software(like itunes) and inseart a music cd with the song you like into the com. Rip the music from the CD and it will be saved into your computer. Find those tracks in among your files and transfer the tracks from your com to your cell, either via USB(its faster) or if your com has this, infrared. I personally recommand the USB.

Its VERY good quality.

It also might be good to edit the file so you only hear your favourite part of the music.  It will save memory on your phone.  After all who will let a phone ring for 5 mins.

You can use Audacity to edit from the riped CD tracks.

I edited some Rite of Spring excerpts for my phone  ;)
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

My phone does not support mp3-ringtones, I think the ringtones should be in midi file (a lot of them you can find at www.classicalarchives.com), but I don't know for other phones.

Whats your phone model? When I bought mine, the USB cable came along with it. Can an extra memory card be fitted into your phone?

Little rectangle thingy...The only little rectangle I have on my phone is the place for the headset AND my USB.

Maybe you could find a classical ringtone you like, pay for it, and don't care if its outdated of not? I mean, classical music is NEVER outdated, anyway. :P

I'm anti-phone and anti-TV. It solves the problem for me.
