Further counting questions
on: January 10, 2007, 02:36:21 AM
If a tempo imetronome indication is 66= dotted half note, does that mean the piece would be played at 198 on the quarter note?

Also if a tempo indication is allegro, with 5/8 time signature, what would be an appropriate speed on the metronome (on the eighth note)?

Thanks!

dotted half at 66 = 198 for the quarters     Yes.

Allegro means lively.   About....  120 for a quarter note?    ( I can't believe I'm getting fuzzy on this stuff!!!  Argh!)    So 8ths at 240.

I think that's right.  Anyone correct me?

A dotted half equals 3 fourths, so 3x66=198  ;) .
