Left Hand Rythmic Patterns
on: January 16, 2007, 09:07:10 AM
Hi everyone !

I'm back on the forum and I wish all of you a very happy new year !

I am working on chords and keyboard knowledge and I would like to find some typical, simple but efficient left hand patterns in different styles (waltz, jazz, rock, blues, salsa, etc.)...

Do you have any idea where I could find this kind of thing ?

Thank you !

Probably the best source for this info (without tedious and lenghty rambling you don't need) is a "Fake Book" manual
With fake books you have just the chords at the bass accompanying the melody
It's up to you to create bass patterns and accompainments out of those chords (hence the faking)

In manual where you're taught how to play from a fake book you're essentially taught how to create effective bass patterns out of chords according to the style and mood of what you're playing

Danny,

Thank you... I found a book: "How to Play from a Fake Book" by Michael Esterowitz.

I ordered it and will try !

Thanks for your answer.
