Bernhard's posts
on: January 16, 2007, 08:34:08 PM
Hi,

I have been trying to compile bernhard's posts, but I have been running into problems because many of the posts are in the older version of the forum.

Has anybody compiled his posts into documents and is willing to share?

Thanks,
Edgard

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies.    I have found quite a bit of material.

Whatever happened to Bernhard?    I have not seen him posting in a while...

He's not been around for a few months, (not since Sept 2006). Perhaps he got fed up with all the religious rubbish some people post ???

Hi Will,

https://www.pianoforum.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=perf;action=display;num=1084457512

How would that work for example for the above link which I'm trying to get.

Thanks,
Edgard

Doesn't work like it used to, or my memory has failed me.  :-\

I thought if you changed https://www.pianoforum.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=perf;action=display;num=1084457512 to https://www.pianoforum.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=perf;action=print;num=1084457512 it would work, but it doesn't.

No, this doesn't work anymore since we do not have the old forum system on the server (because of security reasons). It is really a pity that those links do not work but it is quite an effort to update them since the "easiest" way I have been able to think out involves reinstalling the old forum, visiting each of those links to find out the topic subject and date started, then seach for it in the current forum to find the new link and updating the link in the post...

However, it would be very useful to get those links working again. I will see if we can plan for doing it within the coming months.

It Sounds like it would be a huge effort to restore, but there is so much information lost in space.  I had marked many and can no longe get to them..

Again thank you for anything you can do.

Just to clarify a possible misunderstanding: You can still access each and every of Bernhards posts in the current forum. The issue is only that the links refering to cgi-bin/yabb... do not work so they are a bit hard to find. You can always use the advanced search form and search for posts by bernhard containing certain keywords.

Just to make it clear: Bernhard´s ideas are not Bernhard´s ideas. Most of the stuff he talks about you can find in the Sandor and the Neuhaus book.

Neuhaus book? what book is this?

The Art of Piano Playing, by Heinrich Neuhaus
https://www.amazon.com/Art-Piano-Playing-Heinrich-Neuhaus/dp/1871082455/sr=1-2/qid=1169217735/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/105-5065797-9662031?ie=UTF8&s=books

The reviews on Amazon pretty much spell out its merits and limitations.

Absolutely.

I hope Bernhard is OK.

I can assure you that there are member that don't post here anymore because they got fed up with the "anything but piano" and the progressive ignoring of the piano-related topics. Don't know if Bernhard is among them ...

Just to make it clear: Bernhard´s ideas are not Bernhard´s ideas. Most of the stuff he talks about you can find in the Sandor and the Neuhaus book.

I found that too - after checking out some of his book recommendations I could see where all the ideas came from.

I'll bet somebody could do that with me, read through my bibliography and know where all my ideas come from ;D

Still, the advice was all good, and Bernhard had an eloquent way of putting them across.

You know, you can see all of Bernhards posts in chronological order here: https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=1627;sa=showPosts

He's responded to an email of mine in the last month, so as of then, he is well.

I lke, many others, started to compile information from this Forum.   But, alas,  I should have been more dilligent.  I should have gotten it off before the system was switched.

When Practice Stagnates – Breaking the Performance Ceiling: Robotic Training for Pianists

“Practice makes perfect” is a common mantra for any pianist, but we all know it’s an oversimplification. While practice often leads to improvement, true perfection is elusive. But according to recent research, a robotic exoskeleton hand could help pianists improve their speed of performing difficult pianistic patterns, by overcoming the well-known “ceiling effect”.
