Does anyone know something about this seemingly under recognised composer.. He is of course famous for his Blumenleid and Barcarolle but wrote a host of pieces in the 'light'  romantic tradition.

I know nothing about him, but he does seem to be typical of the light romantic salonesque type of composer.

Anyone thinking of doing any heavy operatic transcriptions by Liszt or Thalberg should have a look at his first of all. They are nowhere as difficult and perhaps would make a good introduction to this fascinating genre.
