Strange coincidences
on: January 24, 2007, 12:37:19 PM
I'd like to know what strange coincidences happen(ed) to you. Why? I just have had one today and I found it very funny.
I just have had a discussion with Alistair Hinton in the audition room about whether the right latin phrase should be "da nobis pacem" or "dona nobis pacem" As an example that also "Da nobis pacem" has been used by some composers (A text by Martin Luther) I argued with Mendelssohns choir work "Da nobis pacem". And what do I find on my piano today in the school choir rehearsal where I have to accompany? Right: "da nobis pacem" by Mendelssohn, which they haven't sung for years lol  ;D I was like lmao and the choir director was pretty confused until I told her this story.  ;D

We recently took on a lot of new staff at the theatre I work in and it turned out two of them had had the same singing teacher as me and one of those two was the sister of a school friend of my sister's... small world!

funny, this topic came up - as just today i met my neighbor (after six months of only waving from the car at her) in a store.  we chatted about our sons - who could be the exact same person if it weren't for their name differences - and how hers joined the navy and now isn't worried at all about barely graduating from highschool.  in fact, he's really motivated.  only a few years older than my son.

A friend of mine, who has attended the same music summer school that I sometimes go to, phoned me up and asked if I was going to the school that particular year and, if so, would I like to take a piano duet to the course. I have only one piece of actual sheet music for two pianos (as opposed to the 2-piano concerto arrangements I've downloaded, hehe), bought for me when I was a kid because I thought the piece sounded cool. So I ask her which piece she is wanting to do and she says "Lutoslawski Paganini variations" - and lo and behold, the exact same piece as my only original duet sheet music. Convenient :)

I remember seeing one of the lesser-talented Baldwin brothers - entertainers in Amerika - on a news program after announcing that he had converted to "hardcore," I guess he meant fundamentalist? - Christianity.  He said, and I QUOTE, "There are no coincidences, only Jesusincidences."

Omg, coincidences?

How about the last five years of my life?

Talk about fate! But I wont bore you to death... ;D

Lets just say that I believe fate should never be confused for mere coincidence.

Oh well perhaps there it really gets interesting? Fate and coincidences? A subject of endless excessive thinking to me. ;D

but, what if...you prayed about it?  then - you could logically attribute it to an answered prayer.  (siren siren)
