You can get the VHS here: https://www.amadeuspress.com/books/index.cfm?do=details&ID=713

It says not available in Europe, which seems odd.  I'm not sure if that'll become a problem, but I'm sure there would be a way around it.

I don't think it's available in DVD.  I got the VHS and used a DVD recorder to transfer it to DVD for ease.

A while back there was a thread asking if anyone had gone all the way through this program, but it seemed nobody has ever done so ;D  I got about halfway so far, but my plate is too full and so I put it off the priority list for now.

I will do some searching and get back to you :).

is this video, or its book format, in your opinion, helpful?

I have watched the video and the way the demonstrator (the author?) uses the language to express is somehow hard for me to understand, in terms of all those technical terms.

I feel like I am having medical or biology lessons.  :)

Any way, what do you guys think?

I just have the book - no dvd! What do you guys think of what he teachers??? I dont agree with everything he says - I rarely do with these books but much of what he says seems to be well thought out and clearly explained. Im talking in comparision to Ching and Matthay.  I have also read Whiteside again reccently - the more you read these books the more they yield I think.

Greetings all,

I've been a member here for a while but haven't posted much, mostly lurking.

I just got the DVD from Amazon and have only 'skimmed' through it. It is EXTREMELY detailed. I've never seen this level of detail describing piano technique before. It will take some time to assimilate and try the information to get a real sense of the value of it.

My first impression is that there are a lot of good ideas here. Near the beginning of the DVD Mr. Fink demonstrates several exercises that are to be performed every day (like calistenics) until they can be performed effortlessly. Their purpose is not to strengthen muscles but to increase coordination, speed and perhaps flexibility. These exercises are for the arms and hands and are not performed at the piano.

Even if you find just a few of his ideas useful I think it's well worth the investment.

An additional comment I forgot:

I would not recommend this DVD to beginning students. You should be at least at an intermediate level, and a lot of the material is for advanced technique. Otherwise it might be intimidating and/or overwhelming.
