DSR 1 Yamaha YDP 113 Compatibility?
on: January 30, 2007, 08:36:14 PM
I have a Yamaha YDP 113 electric piano.  I like it a lot but I don't have the option of using the Pianosoft discs.  Rather than get a new piano, does anyone know if my piano is compatible with the DSR 1 Digital Sequencer Recorder?  I e-mailed Yamaha but they haven't gotten back to me.

Also, does the Playsoft Discs work in your computer's floppy drive?

Anyone have any options for pulling accompaniment for my piano?

Thank you!

The pianosoft stuff is encrypted, and will only work in a Disklavier or the DSR1. The DSR1 will interface with your YDP, via the MIDI in & out ports. In order to hear the sounds from the DSR1 (the 400 + XG & GM voices), you will need to plug it into an amplified speaker source (if your keyboard has audio ins, those will work).

Personally, however, I don't see the value in the expese, when there are so many resources for free MIDI files on the internet. Just a few examples:
