i have heard this piece. i like it, but it is a bit too sparse for a piano/orchestra/chorus piece, as far as ive heard. i was expecting something a bit more involved. it really reminded me of the nocturnes and trio no. 2, though, which i love. the sonatas and chamber pieces, however, were a bit more to my liking.

im curious. how many people here have actually heard of sciarrino?

Pollini is a fan and has championed his music, so maybe more than one would think.
Money does not make happiness, but it can buy you a piano.  :)

i dont think pollini has recorded any of sciarrino's music though. he did have the 5th sonata dedicated to him, though. judging by other modern works that pollini has played, its definitely right up his alley and i would love to hear his interpretation of it someday.
