looking for a book
on: February 06, 2007, 12:44:36 AM
i play a lot of classical music but am looking to play something else for a bit, i thought billy joel would be fun.  i got one of his books and was not happy with it.  A lot of the intros were missing, what was there isn't what was played on the albums, solos are missing, things not played are added in for some reason.  This is also one of the popular books for his music.  I know it would be different playing the real thing without all the backup of a band, but i'd rather know the real thing and work a way to make it sound the way i like on my own.  My question is does anyone know any good books that show the songs the way they are on the albums, especially the ballad of billy the kid.
(they did the same thing with one of elton john's books, anyone know why they change them so much)?
why does it hurt when i pee

I'm not familiar with the pieces you're talking about so I don't whether they're accompained by big instruments groups. If so then to be adapted for the piano they need to be harmonically reduced. Often harmonical reduction is almost identical to the original, often it is a bit different and often it can't be nothing but totally different.
If certain instrumental parts are missing maybe they were impossible to harmonically reduce without losing all the musical conten.

Have you searched your books at the Hal Leonard catalogue
It is the best published imo as far as faithfull sheet music in all styles is concerned

Billy Joel Complete - Volume 1
