What if ???

If for any reason you were unable to, or banned from playing the piano forever,  (or any other musical instrument), what else would you do to occupy your mind and time. What would fill that huge void in your life

I would listen to piano recordings and go to piano recitals, as long as my ban doesn't extend to everyone else on the planet. Bar that, there are still orchestras, which are a delight to listen to.

OR I could build an advanced robot that I can program to play how I want. That way I will never touch the keyboard (thus sticking to my ban) and yet I can still realise my musical ideas through the robot fingers and not need to concentrate on dexterity or technique as the robot fingers will be perfect Also I'll the handspan of the robot the same as mine, I don't want to make it's life easier, otherwise I could just build a robot that had a finger on every single key and pressed them in sequence to create music. That would be very visually boring

However... hmm, maybe I'd finally get round to writing a book, maybe even get it published... I'd have to find another obsession to replace it!

Very depressing.

I used to train in Martial Arts, but our instructors left, and were replaced by a complete jerk.

So I gave it up. That's when I started playing the piano again.

I think I would have another go at Martial Arts, but a different discipline or style.

I have many other intrests, but I really need to play each night to take some stress off. 

If I had to live, I would have the largest collection ever of piano recordings, sheet music, and students... at least I could pass on the treasure to others...

I can't seeing "banning" really being possible.  Being "unable" would mean not being able to use my hands.  In that case, I'd probably be spending a lot of time learning how to live, how to do the basics, without hands, so that would occupy a lot of time.

If music were gone forever, I would just find some type of hobby, or a string of hobbies to fill up that time.

Cook

Spend more time on outings with family and friends.

Keep my place a lot more organized and clean.  I'd spend more time cleaning things probably.

Watch more tv and more movies.

Go out more.... to whatever events people go out to.  Probably attend many more concerts than I do now.

Read more.

Surf the web more.

Possibly work more, just to make more money in case I needed it.

scratch that, i managed to just squeeze bare hard on the lid and aload of air came out it is now becoming easy to open

I would teach the piano, if that would still be allowed.  If not, I would be outside more.  I would listen to piano music, and dream of times past.
