Liszt Mephisto Waltz

Is this piece highly overrated in terms of technical difficulty? I mean it has all the octaves, thirds, some virulent arpeggios, even glissandos, but still is not as difficult as some of the others in the repertory. What's your opinion.
Waste of time -- do not read signatures.

I haven't played many pieces by Liszt, but I have seen the score for the Mephisto Waltz no.1, and it doesn't look excessively difficult when compared with pieces like the transcendental etudes, which I think are more difficult.
But besides the technique, I think that the lyrical middle section takes a lot of emotional energy.  Well, in general the whole piece does.
But you're right, it's probably not the most difficult thing he wrote.  Still, I wouldn't attempt to play it unless I was a technically and emotionally mature pianist.
"what's with all the dumb quotes?"

Nope.
A modern house without a flush toilet... uncanny.
