love
on: February 14, 2007, 05:26:51 PM
well, as you know - today is valentine's day.  i never paid it much attention in the earlier part of my life because - well, i thought it was just as pagan as the rest of the days.  but, hey - everybody mellows -and i think 'well, there's nothing wrong with expressing love, per se.'  i mean - it's probably a good time to express something nice to those you love.

so here it goes:

everybody on the forum - happy valentines day.  the way it is meant is friendship and love to all you fellow pianists and music lovers/teachers.  and a special big heart to alistair  - mon cher - who though having heartily disagreeing viewpoint always presents them kindly.

and - a box of chocolate dumped on thal's head.

hmm.  and to everyone who answers questions - and hands out sheet music - and does invaluable things

LIKE NILS - HAPPY VALENTINE's to him too.

**say, do you suppose on valentine's day you can stop calling me God?  maybe something else?  just an idea of what you can do for me.  although, everyone seems to be used to calling me God now. ?

ps feel free to add your own love/friendship messages.

Surely you are still in "the earlier part of your life", aren't you?!

because - well, i thought it was just as pagan as the rest of the days.
Well now, that just WOULD be your reason, would it not?!

but, hey - everybody mellows
Judging by some posts on this forum, I'd have to take leave to doubt that "everybody" does, but...

-and i think 'well, there's nothing wrong with expressing love, per se.'  i mean - it's probably a good time to express something nice to those you love.
Surely no one is his/her right mind would want to argue with that!

Mille mercis, ma chère - and a reciprocal from moi...

and - a box of chocolate dumped on thal's head.
Really nice ones, I hope - and not dumped too hard or from too great a height (lest damage be done either to the said chocolates or the said head); who knows, he might just be able to share one of them with his boss...

**say, do you suppose on valentine's day you can stop calling me God?  maybe something else?  just an idea of what you can do for me.  although, everyone seems to be used to calling me God now. ?
Susan, my dear, I have NEVER called you "God" and, in any case, wouldn't that be blasphemy?!

Enjoy what remains of this special day (which to you will be five hours more than is left of it over here in UK.

Best,

Alistair

You'd have to address any such suggestion to Nils, methinks; my own view is that, much as the Chopin/Godowsky Studies are utterly remarkable - and much as I love them (wrote he, just trying to stay on topic), it would surely be a great pity to restrict this forum to a mere Chopin/Godowsky discussion group (and there'd still be room on it for topics about "God", too, would there not?!)...

I must confess that CG stands for something else.

Regards.
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

I'd be abit careful of "confessing" here, if I were you; don't forget that the religious fraternity might be watching you! - and I did happen already know that it stands for something else in this context, actually, but thought that playing ignorant of that fact might restore some sense of what this forum is principally about...

computer graphics?  coast guard?  carolina ? common good?  carry guns?  come and get it?  crime and grit?  cross and God?  i got it .  i got the crossword puzzle.  church of God?  imo, it's all inclusive.

i mean - everything is pagan - but you deal with it constructively.  only sparingly using the edible cotton candy spray and licking it when noone is looking.  (why don't they make something that actually tastes good - like lifesavers?)

as i see it - women should not ask a man to lap dance if they are married.  there are more rules - but we won't get into them now.

I think I recognise all the words here - but figuring out what they all may mean must be harder than finding - as Norman Douglas once put it - "a needle in a haystack or a joke in the Bible"...

as i see it - women should not ask a man to lap dance if they are married.  there are more rules - but we won't get into them now.
I don't get what the connection is here, either; several women, one man, not if they're all married - even to one another? No, you've lost us all there, methinks. Even substituting "lap" with "pole" doesn't seem to help.

What have you been drinking, smoking or otherwise ingesting, Susan? - usually, you make more sense than here...

Maybe all those thousands of Valentine messages have somehow gotten to you...

Best,

Alistair

Well, I notably didn't get any valentines, except for Susan's general one above... such is life, I wasn't expecting any!

Telling the people you love how you feel about them has to be a good thing... but I must confess I find all the hearts-and-flowers stuff in the shops fairly repellant. I'm just not that kind of girl... I'd like a gentleman who loves me anyway, not because the calendar says he ought to today in particular. Maybe I'm just demanding, hence single!

I'm sure you're charming, Thal, but long distance relationships aren't really my thing and London to Yorkshire is a bit of a commute... it's all your fault, you live in the wrong county...

you both seem very confident in your love lifes.  i mean - you aren't going around begging someone to send you flowers or chocolate.  i mean if it happens and someone mysteriously dumps a teddy bear, belgian chocolates, and whatever else on your desk - you probably wouldn't turn it down.

i can't help but ask, though, thal.  did you give any sort of inkling that you had anything to do with it?  i mean - did you carefully raise one eyebrow - a bit too carefully and give yourself away.  as soon as the cat was out of the bag - then the hubby walks in, right, as she's jumping around dancing with the bear.  then, you look down.  immediately he knows it's you, too.  is this anything like what happened?

I gave no inkling as far as i am concerned.

She thinks it is me, but she does not know.

The husband thought it was someone else.

if you keep chalking up good deeds like this - they'll be no end of rewards piled up for you in heaven.  but, we won't talk about that.

yes you are chosen.  why do you think your mother gave you such a hard time about it?  that's why you're being so reluctant.  you think people will think she gave religion to you.  but, it doesn't work that way.  everyone finds God in their own time.  but, she planted the seeds.  you can't  just pick the seeds out because she stuck them in your heart.
