Any Czerny, non practice work?
on: February 15, 2007, 05:58:33 PM
Hi,

Just browse through the wensite and found that Carl Czerny, whose practice material has been largely used by teachers, actually did compose other works.

Wonder anyone has any of his sonatas, concertoes, 4 hands or two pianos, etc?

Thanks.

Czerny's output is massive.

Here is the Concerto which i scanned myself and a few other bits which i did not.

I have managed to collect 200 or so of his works, so feel free to ask if you would like to see anything else.

Thal, I wonder if the Opp. on the correct manner of playing Beethoven's works and on improvising cadenzas and fantasias in the classical style made it to your collection.  I think they are Opp. 300 and 500, but not sure.  Someone with more musicological accumen would know.

I am not sure how complete these are.

Not my scans. Possibly done by my Italian friend who has spent 30 years at the photocopier of the Milan Library.

Sorry, had to remove the Op300.

The originator does not want it shared.

Fantastic.  And in English!

If you PM the originator's address, or let him or her know of my request I would be much obliged.  I do not understand people that do not want information diseminated.  Oh, well!

Thal, did you ever post the op14 variations?

They're a lovely piece, the Hough recording convinced me of their musical worth.

Strange that you should mention that particular CD as that is the one that fired up my interest in Czerny as a composer, along with the Horowitz recording of "Ricordanza".

This is not a great scan, but it is readable. I have actually played this, so i am sure you can.

Thoroughly enjoyable to play and equally delightful to listen to.
