I prefer the Henselt.

If forced to listen to Chopin it would be 3rd.

It depends a lot on my mood, but I really love all of them at different times, so I voted for all.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

Bortkiewicz.
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

Thirded. The Bortkiewicz ballade is just wickedly awesome.

For Chopin, though, they're all good. The 4th ballade is my personal preference.

It's on the Rzewski Disc 1 of 7, you have it in your share.

What about the Faure Ballade?
Legend has it that Liszt wasn't able to sight-read this piece because of unorthodox figurations (if I remember correctly).
