How often?
on: February 17, 2007, 12:30:58 AM
How often do you go to classical concerts annually? of course this will be an average, Im just interested to know typically how much live music a typical pianostreet member takes in in the course of a year!!!

You live in a concert hall or you just switch on clasic fm every morning??!? Alternatively are you a pianist and you play through a recital programme every morning before breakfast!! I know I do ;) :P Of course your a music critic and you go to work and review a lunchtime concert everyday! - That would be the coolest job EVER! Oh to sit in 2 concerts a day 5 days a week!! HEAVEN!!!

A concert is held here in our hall at the end of every month, a string quartet being the most common performance. My dad fills in the gaps by playing organ recitals. Haven't had a solo piano recital in a while now, I wonder when the next one could be...

maybe it could be me??

i used to go to concerts so very often that i got tired of them. and that was when my GA job was to do things in and around the hall for 4-6 hours a day, and when i had a full subscribtion to several concert venues in the states. the really good concerts held either at the conservatories or at concert halls were rare. the low quality tended to cover more ground and space; and the mediocre, maximum as plentiful in number, had helped me keep going and survive my studentship.

a bit ironic, now i watch zero to one concert max., annually. and i dont particularly like that fact, either. but i live in an island, and enjoy swimming with pretty fish. tds

My usual average is once a week, and if you count theatre as well it goes up to five or six a week... but I work in venues and have to be there when the shows are on!

Work aside, I aim to go to at least a couple of concerts each month. My next outing is Feb 25th, the St Petersburg Phil playing Tchaikovsky concerto no 1 with Yuja Wang. Never really heard of her, but the orchestra has such a reputation it's got to be worth going!

What island is this tds? I like pretty fish too! How far do you have to dive to see them? My ears don't let me dive to further than 1m without crackling and possibly getting infected.... lameage... :(

two or three - not counting the summer mann center concerts and allentown band.  they are hot!

i got to see andre watts, helene grimaud, and another pianist - of which i don't remember the name.  one concert at kimmel center and two at the reading symphony center.  i like the acoustics at the kimmel center much better.

I used to do around 30 during the college semesters.

Now, a lot less.  Maybe 5 a year.

They can get kind of old after awhile.  Sometimes I would be thinking I should or could get other stuff done instead of go to them.

Going to a lot during college (or any time) isn't bad.  You get a nice idea of what's going on at those places and what the people are doing.

I don't get to go to any concerts, haven't since college.  I really miss them.  Sometimes, I get to listen to classic radio, but that's about it!  sigh

I try to go to at least one every other month... and 2 piano-only each year.  Sometimes I make them all, sometimes I don't, but that is my goal.

If radio counts, then I listen daily...   :)

The university holds several concerts a month and because Im a music student there, they give us free passes to these shows so I probably see 3 or 4 a month.  of actual concerts.  Many of them aren't classical though.  several are post-modern, contemporary craziness.

you, Ive noticed, pianists are generally not as exposed to that genre compared to other instrumentalists.  lucky b@$t@rd$

I don't know, but my imagination is running wild!  I would like to have a wrist excercise.  Don't know what that has to do with cancer, or going to concerts.
