Corg and Pianodisc silencing systems glitch
on: March 05, 2007, 04:48:12 PM
I was trying out a new upright with the Corg silencer system installed. The piano was excellent (Petrof G1, height 125 cm), however, the Corg had (has) a nasty and very annoying glitch: when you repeat a note at a moderate speed (doesn't have to be a trill...), every one of six or so notes goes BANG, as though the sampler had no dynamics and was pre-programmed sfffz. Needles to say this was irritating, but I thought (and the salesman reassured me) that the technicians should be able to fix this. However, the technician phoned today and said that it has to do with the sensors under the keyboard and that it's impossible to fix it (it's supposed to have something to do with the way the keys move or whatever, more insight greatly appreciated...). The very same thing happened with the other system installed on an upright in the store, PianoDisc GT2; when the salesman tried it and found the same glitch, he did sound rather upset.

There might be a third option: PianoDisc Magic Star. Do you have any experience with it? Is it a similar bugger, or is it glitch-free?

Or do you perhaps know any other similar silencing systems?

Thanks!
