If you can find it, Rozalyn Turek has a live video recording.
As always, a lot of very interesting things!
for video:
Don't like Tureck's video
hamelin was ok, but it's u know... always Hamelin.
Grimaud's is suprisingly good.
Kissin's is not bad neither. (One of the perf by him that i don't dislike)
For recording:
I actually really like Mikhail Pletnev's (The bootleg bach recital and the carnegie)
I also like Sokolov's live Brahms version of it.
little did u know, Eugen d’Albert, whom the transcription is dedicated to, criticize Busoni's composition, claiming that the original violin partita is not suitable for 'two-hands', saying the enrichment such as double octaves and bass note will bash the original motif of the partita.
We can clearly see Eugene was wrong about that. (And Busoni did stood up for his own transcription saying Bach definately was not writing the piece ONLY for violin, and restricting this piece to one instrument was a mistake.)
Anyway, I am studying this piece right now (i learnt the notes last year, and is just memorizing it and picking out details.)
I hope one day i can make a video perf of this and put it on youtube too. (well, i am not fancying myself to compete with the video perf i stated in earlier in this thread.)
