I went on the QE2 when i was very young, but it did not impress me.

Personally, i prefer the smaller ships, like the little one that took me out to Staffa the other year.

What is the point of being on a ship that is so large, that it don't feel you are on a ship?

its called relaxation thal..your not supposed to remember your on a boat.  In fact most are now called floating hotels not ships.  I have to say I like waking up in a different place everyday and still getting the service of the hilton...but hey each to their own.  never been to staffa...was it fun??! perhaps you can write a travel log?!? im guessing its quite picturesque up that way...how small was your boat...hebridean princess small?!?!

It was about as large as the average bath tub, but you need a small boat to land on Staffa.

Staffa is so beautiful, it even managed to inspire Mendelssohn to write some decent music.

Tis indeed spectacular.

The holy Island of Iona is very close and is usually visited on the way to Staffa.

Oh yes im with you now!  I remember seeing one of mendelssohns sketches of it.  He was a mighty good artist wasnt he. Still I agree it is more beautifull in reality..though i was toddler last time I saw it.  Caledonian McBrain...anyone know how much that guy must be worth..slight monopoly in that part of the world.

This was the ship I was referring to:

They have a good reputation for quality.
