Odd cue notes in Telemann Concerto in G
on: March 17, 2007, 07:43:42 AM
I am learning Telemann's Concerto in G major for Viola, and I have the Schirmer's Library copy of the sheet music which contains the piano accompaniment. In the second movement in measures 7 and 8, there's a number of cue-sized notes in the treble clef. They do not correspond to the viola part, so it is not an indication of that, and the bass clef notes are normal sized. What is the significance of these notes being cue sized?

Dunno because I havent seen it ...neither am I that familiar with the piece...BUT it could well be that this particular part of the (continuo) accompaniment was left incomplete and it was just bass note plus figured bass.  In which case it may well be that the editor has realised it for you here but has decided not to give his ideas equal weight with the composers and has put them in smaller type to show this...check at the front/back of the score...there may be a small explaination somewhere.
