Finale problem
on: March 19, 2007, 12:19:22 PM
I just updated to Finale 2007 and now I have this problem with two different layers :(  Argh) this was not the same in Finale 2005. It would now always notate double accidentals like the natural signs here. In case of flats there it would make double flats. And I can't remove the second accidental with for instance "control/shift/-" what to do?

(btw I posted this in Pianistimo's thread but got no answers so far  :P

dear pianowolfi,

i am not a computer person - but i am guessing that taking 05 completely off and reinistalling 07 by itself might be the answer?  my husband does all kinds of stuff with computers, and occasionally i get ideas from him.  this is one.  we do this with tax programs because the previous year always gets teh current year mixed up.  just make it separate - unless you are trying to keep something from 05 that isn't on 07?  i would doubt that would be the case.

btw, thank you a million times for the sample finale 07.  when i have the money - i want to buy it because it's pretty easy to use.  susan

Thanks Pianistimo! I think the reasone lays just in Finale 2007. There were similar mistakes in the previous versions. For instance it would never play the second of two tied notes after a barline with the respective accidental. Now they have "corrected" it and you just need to set the accidental for the note after the barline but it does not turn into a double accidental like it did before in the previous versions lol. This program simply does not get fed with some of the most simple rules of notation. But I have heard that there are similar bugs in other notation software. And after all I like it still very much.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
