Poulenc Sonatina or Sonata for piano.
on: March 22, 2007, 05:37:58 AM
Greetings.

My teacher mentioned that we should soon start the Sonatina by Poulenc. I am unable to find any Sonatina by him and was wondering whether anyone here knows of or is willing to share the notes of this Sonatina or Sonata.

I can hardly bring myself to use that dreaded word again.

Would it be too much trouble to ask for possible guidance of where I might find this piece? I searched on the internet and got no feedback on ANY Poulenc Sonatinas. There are some sonatas but I am primarily looking for a solo piano sonata.

There are loads of Poulenc works on sheetmusicplus.com

However, i am unsure if he wrote solo sonatas.

The only ones i have are for 4 hands or 2 pianos.

he wrote a sonata for clarinet and piano - (for benny goodman who performed it after his death with leonard bernstein). and one for oboe.  and one for flute.  i thought for sure there was a piano sonata.

i was working 'trois pieces' which has a toccata in it.  also, there is a concerto for two pianos in d minor.

has anyone arranged poulencs works (say the instrumental sonatas)?  i'll look.  i know he wrote some nocturnes.
