Mephisto Waltz
on: March 24, 2007, 02:00:28 AM
I have a few questions concerning mephisto waltz. First of all, is the "Liszt transcription" version of it on Sheet music archive is the original one everyone is playing ? Second, If you had choice as a student between playing Mendelsohn variations serieuses and Mephisto waltz for a session, what would you choose, and for what reason. Are the variations serieuses considered of the level of mephisto waltz, if not why ? And is Mephisto Waltz really a top repertoire level of the likes of the dante sonata for example, or any kind of piece you'd see you play in an international competition. All this only by curiosity, BTW.

It's not as hard as Mazeppa; you should be able to manage it.
