New Piano Market Statistics: Inside the Quiet Transformation of Piano Playing

For those of us who spend our lives on the bench — whether teaching, practicing for a recital, or simply playing for the love of it – the piano has always been a singular concept: wood, felt, strings, and soul. Yet, recent global market reports reveal that the definition of our instrument is expanding and evolving in ways that affect us all. Read more

Noise
on: March 24, 2007, 06:00:20 AM
 Hi fellows!
It is happening something weird with my piano. For the last two or three days, when I play in certain parts (E4-G4, and F3) there is a noise, like a snare drum. There is nothing apparently in contact with the strings.
Does anyone have a comment, or suggestion?
 Thanks in advance!

This has happened me many times, but it always stops after a week or so. I usely check inside the piano to see if there are any obvious problems.

If it doesn't automaticly stop, than some more knowledgable people here and in real life would have to help you.

What piano is it?
More importantly, is it a upright or grand?
If it is an upright, try removing everything on top of the piano.
Bach - Partita No.2
Scriabin - Etude 8/12
Debussy - L'isle Joyeuse
Liszt - Un Sospiro

Goal:
Prokofiev - Toccata

Check around the room at any plant vases or such things around the room.   Objects don't even  have to touch the piano in order to sympathetically vibrate.  There's a brass plant vase in my piano room that sometimes makes a snare drum rattle in certain positions.  Turning it around usually solves the problem.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Mine piano had a little brass plack just to the left of low A that worked it's way loose, and it drove me crazy looking for what made that noise.  So look around, see if there is anything on or next to the piano.
