Tchaikovsky Piano Sonata in C# minor, Op.80
on: April 01, 2007, 10:07:07 PM
Anybody? Thal, do you even have this? I've heard almost NOTHING about it, except that, although the first 3 mvts. are great, it's never played because the last mvt. is completely empty musically.

So, does anyone have it?

Phil

It's by far the worst piece by a composer who otherwise revealed himself as a great master in almost everything else that he did - not least in his piano cycle The Seasons...

I imagine some Tchaikovsky fans are going to be livid about that comment.

Are you familiar with the C# minor Sonata, Alistair?
