Chopin- Lento con gran espressione in E minor
on: April 04, 2007, 07:27:53 PM
This was taken from a thread about nocturnes about a year ago...

Difficult question! They are all very personal and each has a depth of its own, but I would try op.27 no.2 in D flat major and op.48 no.1 in C minor. Also, two of Chopin's most beautiful nocturnes (in all but name) are Lento con gran pressione in E minor and the Barcarolle op.60.

// Jason Lee

Does anybody know what piece Opuswriter is referring to? I looked up and down the Wikipedia Chopin composition list but couldn't find one that fit this description. Is it possible he's referring to the Nocturne in E minor, Op.72 No.1, even though he states that the piece is a nocturne in all but its name? Or is there another piece out there?

I think the only nocture, which sheet's say " Lento con gran pressione" is the C sharp minor nocture also on the soundtrack from  "The Pianist"  . Maybe he is referring to this nocture ?

I think ganymed is correct. The original manuscript does not have the title Nocturne only Lento con gran pressione.

But the posthumous nocturne is not in E minor.  It might be referring to the 4th prelude, but that has a largo indication.
