Teresa Carreno

Hi I was reading from 'piano mastery - the harriette Brower interviews' about this fantastic women pianist and noted a tombe introduced by her father some 580 exercises based on difficult passages from repertoire. On which her technical facility aquisition was based.  Does anyone know more about this volume...what it contains and if indeed it is still published?  ::)

A couple of years ago, my daughter, now 14, fell in love with some pieces of Teresa Carreno, who composed her own music at a vert young age ( and performed at the age of nine years for President Lincoln). She composed a beautiful waltz for her daughter, titled Teresita Waltz.  We searched for her music, and finally found her collections at Vassar college, where a number of her original scores are archived.  Try contacting them.  It is known to be the most extensive Carreno collection in the U.S.  I believe she left it to the college upon her death. Also, there are two cd's available on her work: Alexandra  Oehler and Carmen Peralta Rodriguez (who is a professor at Middelesex College).  Ms. Peralta was very responsive to our request for information about this fascinating composer. Good luck! Here is the link for the library: https://musiclibrary.vassar.edu/carrenocollection.html
