challenge to opus10no2
on: April 26, 2007, 01:55:37 PM
ok.  today i'm working #19 of czerny's 'the art of finger dexterity.'  by noon tommorrow - i want to see who can play this faster.  you or me.  are you on?

ps i just found it today.  the reason i'm working it is because i have  asort of medium to small hand and want to improve my reaches.

i'm going to win, btw.  reason being is that i will play it fairly slow - and thus get through the piece no problem at all.   you will play it very fast and end on page 2.  claiming it is too easy - though the last pages will show who has superior technique.

And what colo(u)r are you now, Susan? (photographic evidence might answer this question best of all...)

Well, I'd be interested if it was 10/1 or 10/2.

i was afraid of that.  as it stands i have nothing to lose - so i will start practicing both.  one after the other.  i will not, however, use them to time hair coloring.  otherwise i would be a bleached blond instead of blondish brown.  does that answer your question, alistair.  i might post a pic at the piano sometime.  my daughter got a new cell phone that takes better pics than mine.

ok.  opus 10 no1 and opus10 no2 - any suggestions for practicing them?

opus 10 no1 is a study in arpeggios but it has some very tricky runs.

opus10no2 is VERY hard, much harder than it seems. Try it and youll know what i mean

ok.  we're on.  two weeks from sunday.  or perhaps even sat. night - but probably sunday.  that's the second week in may i guess.

no scriabin for me, imbetter - you have to duel with someone else on that one.  how about doing the opus10#1, too?

i have the first page to opus 10 #1.  all in a day's work.  (hope i don't forget it by tommorrow).  if all goes well - in six days i will have the entire work. then, it's one week to get as fast as possible.

hopefully that dratted Eb in measure 60 won't cause a headache.  it's an E natural in measure 12.
