John Cage on networkTV
on: May 03, 2007, 04:09:04 AM
In 1960 John Cage appeared on one of the popular game shows, "I've got a secret," and they cancelled the whole show premise to allow him to perform one of his experimental compositions.  THis would never happen in today's TV World!  Prepare to be amazed:

all in a day's work.  actually, since i sort of knew what to expect - it was rather comforting.  thank you for this last evenings listenings.

ps it's the precision and the timliness of the sounds.  they flow together, right?  i mean - there is no delay - excepting the natural decay.  but, he doesn't let them totally disintegrate before making another one.

pss i think this could actually be a form of therapy for some people.  you know. having something to do.  being precise about it.  i actually think i might feel really good after performing some cage after all.  (not that i don't have anything to do - but at the end of the day - you just don't want to do the same things over and over - unless you perform the same piece twice).  can cage ever be performed the same way twice?

He's got a funny voice.
I love the idea of knocking a radio of a table and including it under the field of 'music'! ??? ;D
Never look at the trombones. You'll only encourage them.

He's got a funny voice.

And I must always smile, if I see him laughing:

open mouth - no sound at all  :D
