Left Hand

Hi All.
New here today..

After some advice...

I've been playing the piano for a long time using my right hand... I can listen to music and play work out how to play it on the piano... I can also look away and play song after song without looking (in most cases I can play better by not looking at the keys)

I'd love to be able to play the piano properly with two hands and learn the cords etc.
But when even I try and play someone with both hands, I always mess up or and I can't focus on both hands at once.

My family and friends all say I'm really good (even a music teacher that heard my once said I was)

How do I learn to play with two hands?
If I can't focus on both hands when playing... should I give up?

Thanks
Joseph

Hi,

I'm no expert, but I would look at this first.

Then read more from this

There will be other people replying that are of greater help.

Good luck

If God really exists, then why haven't I got more fingers?

No you shouldn't. Perhaps the problem is that you have been concentrating only on your right hand so long. Start very simple! Maybe you should take a piece without both hands playing at the same time first. Then you might continue with an easy melody in the left hand or just chords. Practice so slowly that you don't have to stop in the RH when the LH changes. Work on each hand seperatly when you start a new piece and don't get discouraged...it will take its time to improve.

I hope that helps

Good Luck
