I don't because he doesn't (although there are countless other equally valid reasons, of course); clearly, you are easily amused. Words (better defined in this context as inane prattle) fall down from the mouth of Mr Wogan just as water does from the summit of the Niagara Falls, although the latter is surely far more beautiful to observe.

Someone recently attempted to defend and somehow dignify this so-called "competition" by observing that no less a figure than Wagner wrote an opera around the subject of a singing contest; it's true - he did - it's called Die Meistersinger von Neurovision. That said, the connection between singing and Eurovision seems as remote as Pluto and even more questionable...

You are indeed not mistaken about the first part, but you are about the second, since the action of fingers (whether mine or anyone else's) on a computer keyboard disturbs so little air that even a small amount of wind is unlikely to be generated thereby...
