Bittorrent is far the best chioce (for download). Soulseek is also good (when it works).
I'm not sure there's music available to listen without downloading anywhere.

What an excellent suggestion.

Millions of people all over the world searching for free music on internet, should simply switch on the radio.

Perhaps not everyone has one nowadays.

Hey try these:
www.classiccat.net
www.pianosociety.com
Not recordings by famous artists, but some very good work nonetheless.

They are free to ban me if they want to. The reality is, if you are downloading this music that's because you know you'll never be able to play nearly as good as the pros who record it (otherwise, you could simply listen to yourself). So come on, show some mercy for us amateurs!

Greetings.

Bittorrent depends on the torrent, the server (tracker), and the seeds available. And it is also natural talking about Bittorrent. It's not always used to illegal stuff. Lots of freeware stuff is circulating through torrents. There is even people who make recordings and want to put an album of recordings on the internet. It's very common. Anyway, it can be used as an illegal way, although I think information should be everyone's, and that there's nothing wrong about downloading music and stuff for personal use.
Just an opinion.

Best regards,
       OceanSoul.
