Long Journey-- Videos
on: May 13, 2007, 11:08:00 AM
These are the first videos of myself I link here. This is also the first step into public with my program "Styx. A long journey". I played these at my student's recital yesterday. The first one is an improvisation on one of my main themes, the two others are parts of my program. In "excitement" (which is pretty tough to play) there happened a few mistakes (I will practise this more
) but yesterday I didn't care, because I was in a complete trance and the atmosphere was very special. People seemed to like it very much.
Improvisation on e-a-b-a
Butterflies
Sunset suite: 1. Yearning 2. Excitement 3. Floating
Very important step for me

Here are some of my favorite parts from eaba improv.
eaba improv -
1:00 - love the sudden transition from darkness to brightness back to darkness
1:40 - nice appassionato chords here
1:56 - hand crossing! yay for videos lol
2:29 - ah nice brief shift into sunlight and back into darkness again
Pianowolfi, do you teach improv to any of your students, out of curiosity? I probably already asked you that sometime but if I did I forgot. haha

Thanks Derek. Yes I try to introduce every student into improvisation, more than earlier in my teaching life, even from the first lessons. Not all of them are so much into it though, sometimes they only want to play "songs" and then I let them.
