Hey all, I'm planning to enter a college level competition and planning to use the same material for my recital as well. What are your guyz overall thoughts and suggestions on selections I still can't decide yet.

Competition:

1. Beethoven - Sonata Op. 31 No. 3  "Complete"
2. Schumann - Faschingsschwank aus Wien (Carnival Jest from Vienna) - Complete
OR
    Brahms - Scherzo Op. 4
3. Villa-Lobos - Dansa from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4 OR
Ginastera  - Suite: Dansas Criollas "Complete" OR
    Barber - Waltz from Souvenirs

And for the my recital I was planning to add Bach Italian Concerto and Selections of Brahm's Intermezzo's.

 Dear Guy:
Interesting selection. The Beethoven's Sonata gives you solid ground, so anything that you choose will result in a good combination. In the group 2, I would prefer Brahms. It seems to me more suited to a competition than the Schumann. About the third group, my suggestion is Ginastera, only because it's a complete work.
About your recitals: Bach, Beethoven, Brahms...quite conventional, isn't it?
 Best wishes!
