I've just begun some of these. Did you do all 24 or selected ones? I'm doing 5,6,7,10 & 14.
Most recently completed:Debussy - Arabesque No. 1Ravel - Tombeau de Couperin: MinuetLiszt - Liebesträume No. 3Learning at the moment:Haydn - Sonata No. 62 in EbChopin - Etude Op. 25 No. 12Chopin - 'Heroic' PolonaiseAnd I'm trying to teach myself Ravels Scarbo from Gaspard
I try to learn the piece that is called my life
I am about to learn Arabesque No. 1 also, how did you find it, any areas you would highlight as challenging or at least in the duration of tyhe piece if not comparison with other pieces.
You might want to try playing that one by ear...
I've started looking in the last week at the first movement of the Chopin Sonata in b minor - so much musical material packed into even the first three pages! I've been really enjoying getting to know it - I know the theme has been criticized as being impersonal, but I am getting quite attached to it and its development. Also - anyone else enjoy the dialogue on the "second page" that hovers over the chromatic scales in the bass?
Haydn Sonata in B minor, Hob. XVI: 32
Mendelssohn Variations serieuses in D minor, Op.54Chopin Etude Op.10 No.7 in C major
Good to hear someone's digging it up this sonata, because, in my opinion, it is absolutely unfairly neglected. This alone seems to be a lot indeed. The etude is the one with repeated notes (EG-EC FA-FD ...), right? How difficult is it?Now my list for the summer:Bach WTC P&F No. 15 in G major from Bk II and No. 10 in E minor from Bk IBeethoven Sonata Op. 2 No. 3 in C major (remaining movements 3, 4)Chopin Polonaise Op. 40 No. 2 in C minorChopin Etude Op. 25 No. 2 in F minorAnd finally I have to get to know Scriabin. I haven't decided yet, so suggestions for a piece technically good for my level and not too complex musically are welcome.
As for Scriabin, take a look at the F# minor etude Op.8 No.2, the E major etude Op.8 No.5, or possibly some of the Op.3 Mazurkas.
Summer rep list....Rachmaninoff: Piano concerto no3Chopin: Complete etudesRavel: Gaspard de la nuit (just need to finish scarbo)Mozart: Sonata in F major
