The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. i have just heard a two piano version of the famous dawn scene, on mp3 .com, with dag achatz and some other pianist .
i wish there was a piano transcription of the whole thing. it would be awesome, but at the same time i dont think it could match the awesome orchestration of the piece. it just is  a masterpiece.

Yes I know what you mean, it is really an orchestral thing, but I would like to play it sometime. Perhaps I will have to arrange it for other instruments.

I think it would lose all magic if you play it on a piano. The real beauty isn't in the notes themselves but in the colour and character of the orchestra and the way it is orchestrated.
