ABRSM Practical Exams
on: May 27, 2007, 05:23:45 PM
There are a lot of pieces to choose from when taking ABRSM practical exams, 9 of these are available in a book published by the exam board, but what about the rest? Is there not a book or place where I could get all of the individual pieces, or do I need to get several books that contain these pieces?

Occasionally, publishers such as Edition Peters etc. publish a book containing the ABRSM exam pieces that are actually in their catalogue. Do a search for these sort of books.

Otherwise, I am afraid you will have to get those pieces individually.

That's how the ABRSM board stretch to earn MORE money.

You may check their publication of spectrums. Or usually they suggest an "feasible" edition for those supplimentary pieces (which usually their edition).

You may check Keit Snell edition on standard repertoire which he arranged according to level, period, etc.

That pretty much can help. Usually we as teachers also have problem finiding the supplimentary pieces, especially in list C.

But a lot of the alternative pieces aren't actually published by the ABRSM anyway - so they won't profit from these choices.........

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
