Does anyone know if you can do this - take one of the pieces of sheet music offered here and put it in your music program to change the key of it?

I think you would need a program to recognize the pdf images as music notation and convert that into something, like MIDI, that the notation software can understand.  Something like... PhotoScore?  I think that's the one I heard of.

I think Sibelius comes with such a feature called Photoscore Lite.  I've never used it, but I understood it was a scanning thing.  I don't know if it would work with PDFs.  When I got Sibelius, I showed the salesperson a complex score I had been typing on another system, and asked if it could be scanned in.  He said it was too complicated for Sibelius to understand, so I never bothered trying that feature. :)

The scanner - oh yeah!  I forgot I have something like that - I'll have to try that.
I've never tried it myself; although my husband has used it and it seemed to work ok.

I'm surprised that they told you that it was too complicated - I thought Sibelieus was supposed to be able to do that.

thanks!

If it's already a pdf, you wouldn't have to scan it though, as long as it's detailed enough for the software to recognize it.
