Movie sequels that lived up to expectations
on: June 01, 2007, 07:25:06 AM
not too many - Godfather, Superman (original), Spiderman, Terminator, Austin powers possibly...I'm stuck.
So many fall flat - Matrix (though I like Reloaded, Revolutions sucked and made no sense), Pirates of da Caribbean.
more later, when I can think of some more.

Well, obv. LOTR 2+3...and Bond movies if they count.

Randomly , my fave Star Wars is the Revenge of teh Sith also.

Depends what you mean by 'live up to', because really I don't expect any sequels to equal the original, and so most actually meet my expectations.. :P

-Aliens (sequel to Alien)

I agree with you on "The Matrix".

Matrix 3 completely lost the plot and was just another cliched sci-fi movie with loud banging noises and shiny things.

Spiderman 2 and 3 were horrible.  My favorite SW movie was 5, followed by 4, followed by 6.  1,2, and 3 were disappointing.

Already been said, but my votes are for Matrix, LOR, and the original Star Wars trilogy Empire Strikes Back.

I disagree on The Godfather.  In part 2 there were no characters to relate to any more, as Michael became more and more business-like and seemingly lost all of his morals.

Prolly more whether you enjoyed them as much as the original, or whatever the general consensus was.
Indiana Jones is strange, I think most people (including Spielberg) like Last Crusade better than Temple.  4 shall be interesting.
Rocky prolly lost it at 4, but 6 was pretty good.

The first potc was okay but the second was horrible. Third was mediocre. Star wars! (the last three episodes)

Saw 2 and 3

They aren't quite as fresh and legendary as the first, but undeniable legendary.

Blues Brothers 2000, just as good as Blues Brothers, and both are absolute classics.'

Slightly less refined, the Tremors series.  1, 2, and 4 are great, 3 sucked.

Aliens 1, 2, and 4 are great, 3 is so-so.

Not really, it's just a (some would say) unfortunate fact that there are no regular posting females.
