Gershwin transcribed 18 of his most popular songs for piano solo. They're published in one volume by Warner Bros. Lots of fun, not classical, and most aren't terribly difficult.

Eugenie Rocherolle sounds like the perfect match.

Studio arrangements of so-called "standards" from the 1930s through 1950s.  The sheet music can be purchased at rummage sales or antique shops.

Examples:  Stardust, Stomping at the Savoy, Over the Rainbow, Sentimental Journey.

Some of these are poorly arranged, but some are beautifully arranged.  You will surely find a few of these arrangements that you like.

Usually pieces like this fit your criterion of being subject to an immediate sight-read.  And of course, they are not classical.
