Things that remind you of people

Slightly odd topic... but one that I've been thinking about in the last couple of days.

I went to the cinema last night and was eavesdropping on the girls sitting behind me, who were talking about what they associated with each other... and one said in particular that the smell of a particular brand of fabric softener made her think of her friend.

Then today I went shopping for a card for my grandad, because he's just been diagnosed with cancer and I wanted to tell him I love him and I'm thinking of him... and I found a card with Paddington Bear on it, which I bought for him because I associate Paddington with him. When I was small, when my sister and I went to stay with my grandparents, they had a toy Paddington and it was a treat to be allowed to play with him, and I associate a lot of very happy memories with Grandad and Paddington.

Greenland reminds me of my ex girlfriend.

It is cold, remote and you don't go anywhere near it without a good reason.

strawberries remind me of my grandmother.  she was sweet and she made strawberry jam from her strawberry patch - which never died as long as she was around.

stained coffee cups remind me of my grandfather.  you couldn't really clean them.  i don't know what he did to them.  i suppose he just used the same cup over and over.  and, the wafting smell of a cigarette.  he was a sort of cowboy.

my best friend in highschool would remind me of a shin splint continuously worn.  she was a sprinter and always wore one on her leg.  i wish i could find her somewhere's in the 'lower 48' here. 

my youngest daughter reminds me of a bunny.

items (for example, i have a whole box of things from people or by people that remind me of them, like a dried flower from a bf way back in the day, and a little toy my best friend''s brother gave me unexpectedly, or letters from friends)

smells (my friend's houses all have very "them" smells. not bad, just them. and once i had a bf who had some amazing cologne, so once he gave me a little pillow that he had sprayed with it, so it smelled like him. and my last bf, after we broke up, i still had one of his shirts. i kept it for ages cos it smelled like him)

words/phrases (one of my friends always ends sentences with "my good sir".  etc...)

cars (i still freak out whenever i see a car like my favoritest bf drives. unfortunately, it's a VERY common car!)

animals (one of my friends is infatuated with frogs)

i dont see things like that i wish i did i guess the closest i get is when im reading a book and listening to music at the same time that song picks up the emotion of the book

i.e. if the book was upsetting and i cant listen to the song i was listeing at the time of reading the book cos its taken on the emotion of the book
