Who is/was Daniel Gottlob Turk?
on: June 19, 2007, 02:33:56 AM
I've heard of him.  Probably played something by him.  Never studied him much.

I'm thinking... classical?  Baroque?

Hmmmm...... *reads titles, begins search for "Smelly Cat"*

Because I see Turk music is now available on the PS downloadable music site.

that's because you misspelled his middle name.  gottlieb!  he was a young turk once.  everyone seems to quote him regarding trills in the classical period.
https://www.oldflutes.com/articles/classicaltrill/index.htm

he wrote the teaching manual 'klavierschule' in 1789 which was one of the first instruction manuals for general teaching of the keyboard.  also, 'kurze anweisung' - which explained through-bass and his unfinished 'violinschule' in 1799.

*whines* I didn't misspell it!  Nils did it!

There are new pieces in there.

I did think it was Gottlieb actually.  It's an odd name.
