Your 2 hand version probably does have a section where 4 hands are required i think.

Yes, that's correct.  I own the complete dover edition of these pieces, but there is a full 4 hand version of this symphony that i got the recording of, and would love to see the score.

C.F. Peters has an edition of the symphonies for 1 piano, 4 hands for sale online for  $53.80 (2 volumes, a piece).

If nobody else has them, I know my Uni. library has them. It might be a few weeks though before I'm able to get them.

I didn't realize Liszt transcribed all 9 for 4 hands.  If you do end up getting it from the library i'd appreciate it.

I've got an ancient Schirmer edition of the Beethoven Symphonies and only Volume II, containing symphonies 6 through 9.  Copyright 1894.  The text for the choral mvt is in English ("O ye millions, I embrace ye!  Here's a joyful kiss for all!")  What a hoot, huh?  I can hear Beethoven screaming right now.  Maybe Schirmer still has this in their library.  The price on mine is $2.  It's THAT old.  Absolutely no indication in the score who did the transcription, but I've played through them all and they're anywhere from do-able to God Help Us.  It was a gift a a few years ago and came inscribed thusly:

"Michael,

Hope you enjoy my new symphonies.

Best wishes,

L. Beethoven (1824)"

I seriously doubt if this is authentic, but, hey, you never know.

Okay, I don't have a scanner, but could possibly get one on loan from a geek-friend.  I'm cyber-phobic, so walk me through this tech part and I'll try to get the score to you.  I have a Mac system 10 OS.whatever.  Last year's model.

p.s.  WARNING:  both pianists have to be totally tanked to play the 9th.  that way you'll sing the choral/solo parts as you hack through the notes.  covers the mistakes.

Michael
Current repertoire:  "Come to Jesus" (in whole-notes)

Someone just posted a four-hand, two-piano transcription by Liszt of the 9th Symphony on the Gamingforce forums: https://72.36.219.91/forums/showthread.php?t=47&page=504

You'll need an account on the forums to download the music.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31. Piano Street’s members are invited to watch the livestream. Read more
