!   since october i have had a runny nose and not been able to taste or smell. I went to the doctor in january and he gave me antibiotics and i took them for 2 weeks and nothing happened. then he gave me allergy meds and that made it go away for like 2 days and then i went off the meds. then the symptoms came back and i am just too lazy to take the meds again.

last night i was playing Chopin while coughing up mucus and having breathing troubles.

we like it

i bet you have severe allergies.  the same things can happen.  the fact that you did not die between october and january is a good indication to me.  however, i am not a medical doctor.

we used to live in southern california and my son had terrible allergies.  we went to get all the shots which tested for different kinds of allergens.  turns out - the thing he was most allergic to was the grass he rolled around in.  and dust.  the doc said to never leave his laundry in his room at night.  just that one thing helped him tremendously.  and, taking a shower at night to get rid of any pollens.  also, we bought an air filter.

you can also get a face mask - if you are seriously affected by pollution - which is another serious cause of coughing and hacking.  and, dust.  some people (such as myself) start uncontrollabel sneezing from sudden sunlight, or dust.  i started keeping the house as clean as possible and using the wet vac on the carpets.  nobody is hacking anymore.

pets can also cause allergies.  i am sure i am allergic to the cat - but couldn't get rid of her - so i don't pet her a lot.  just sometimes.  and i wash my hands afterwards.  she still sleeps on my side of the bed and leaves dander sometimes.  i wish it wasn't so - but she is a contented cat and can't get rid of her at this point.  and, wouldnt want to.  my son is very allergic to her as well.

I have dirty clothes all over the floor in my room! they are pretty much there 24/7. cuz i remember one time i cleaned my room for a graduation party and i think my symptoms starting going away.
I thought it was just because i dusted, but then i think the symptoms came back as the dirty clothes started piling up.

I find that walking in the rain, heavy-ish rain with an umbrela, breathing through the nose out through the mouth in cold weather helps with all sorts of allergy, sneezing and so on. I believe in weather conditioning ,at the risk of sounding amaturish,  walking is good.
I remember not long-ago i went to bed and in the middle of the night i had to wake up, my body temperature was so high that i had to stand under the cold shower(freezing cold shower) for a long time. I learnt latter that i have an allergy to Alcohol and other stuff, luckly wine seems harmless.

Another thing, air condishining, either in a building or a car can be very bad.
Basic things we human need to survive, clean water, fresh air, food ,good company
and of course medication when we fall ill. I dont believe there is such thing as perfect health, those that spend a life time seeking perfect health are a little frightning.

I guess having a chain smoking girlfriend did not help.

Fancy going all the way to Malta (or wherever he went) and then living in the same house as a cigar smoker.

He should have said "George, for gawds sake put the bloomin fags out".

you know, thalbergmad (despite your unrefined language here), i think you are entirely correct.  george sand inadvertently killed chopin.

Hmm, i am gonna save this as my next signature. I will keep my existing one for a little while longer.

What unrefined language?

This could be a case of "sympathetic" illness.

You play Chopin you die of TB, you play Tchailovsky and you get Cholera and if you play Alkan, a bookcase will fall on you.

That is my theory.

I am surprised no one has signed on here suffering with the mentioned diseases and has not reported this!

They may believe you are all making fun out of it...

why did you write at the end of the message 'we like it.'  you mean you and chopin?  or do you feel your coughing has taken on a life of it's own?  antibodies are a funny thing.  radiation might help.  try getting a sunburn.  bet chopin never saw the sun once.  something of a nightowl, that man.

also, i've heard that natural antibiotics are things like garlic, onions, yogurt, and there's something else that you can buy (forget the name) that is supposed help with a person's general ability to fight off infection.  also, most people don't eat enough dark green leafy veggies.  just forget about preparing them - and grab a leaf when you walk by the fridge.  i started doing this randomly.  just washing the leaf and eating it when i was on the internet.  you don't physically have to make a salad each time you want greens.  also, put lots of lettuce in your sandwiches (or substitute dark greens for the lighter lettuce - for better effect).

lastly, exercise.  i doubt chopin did much of this.

so...you don't want to get better.  you just want people to feel sorry for you?  is that it?  good luck. people only have compassion for about 2-3 days.  then, you're on your own.  best thing to do is to rely on total strangers from day to day.  no repeat customers.

say, have you taken a tb test?  what if you are just allergic to dairy products?

i thought you would have seen the thread about piano playing and being sick. Pretty sure i don't have tb, I only semi-feel like i do. I know i have some sort of allergy to barns cuz when i go in i think i get blood shot eyes, which is really gross.

did you say barns?  do you live on a farm?  do you routinely go into barns?  pity if you have a horse that you can't ride.  anyways - there's always a solution.  perhaps it's like poison ivy.  once you acclimate yourself - you have less of a reaction each time.  although, it may take up to 300 barn excursions.  try getting someone else to brush your horse.

i don't live on a farm, they are gross. I don't dare drink the cow milk. I stayed at my cousins farm for about a week, and when he got back my brother got ecoli, along with my cousin who was rather young, in fact i think she almost died. It might be from the fact that my uncle was squirting the raw cow milk at us directly from the...uh..teet.  Anway, I don't have much access to barns.

I still haven't picked up my room of dirty clothes everywhere, i will do that and dust and see what happens.

e-coli from fresh cow milk?  never heard of that.  although, i don't doubt that it's possible.  my parents used to have a small farm.  keeping the hay and barn clean is, no doubt, a somewhat difficult task to keep up from day to day.  when i was in highschool i dreamed of the barn getting burnt down so we could start fresh.  i had to gather eggs and about died everytime i went into it.  in the summertime they can 'free-range' outside, though - so at least the barn can get aired out.

sorry you have so much difficulty with allergies.  i am resistant to allergy medication.  i refused to take it for so long - that when i am offerred medicine i say 'no, i prefer to suffer.'  although once my husband stuffed a claretin down my throat.  it did work temporarily.  enough to cycle on the trail in springtime when pollen is everywhere.

So today I am still coughing up mucus. And I haven't really been able to taste or smell for over a year. Every once in a while I might taste for like half a day. So I guess today I will start taking some of that medicine and see what happens.
