Seriously, we actually just went to the Royal Festival Hall see her playing Prokofiev 3, met her and chatted with her after the concert. She's the nicest musician I've met!

Argerich has a nice smile in that picture.

Odd- how did you automatically know which was Noah?  I guessed correctly I suppose...

So how did this meeting get arranged?  What languages does she speak?  Did she hear you play?

I said to Noah she is smiling at me, but he insists she was smiling at her bottle of vodka.

She played Prokofiev 3 and we went backstage. Many people decided to miss the second half of the concert in order to stay with her.

She was switching between English, French and German, but she also speaks Spanish and Portuguese, and probably more.

Somebody asked her how to finger a certain section in Prokofiev 3 (if you know this piece then you probably know the bit I am talking about), so she showed them on a Steinway that happened to be sitting there. After that she got up and went next door, so I decided to play the opening of Prokofiev 2 as a hint to what she would learn next. I only did it so I could say I have played the same piano as Martha, directly after her  ;D,

I've been brave and managed to hold it back. As for Ed, I'll let him reply to that question himself (not sure he will) ;D

As if she doesn't already know the Prok 2...

What I meant was, how was it so easy for you commoners to just walk backstage and meet her?  Did you have special VIP passes?  That's quite an experience- the envy runs thick over here.
One more question- did she play the Prok 3 as well as she did when she was younger (I have a flawless recording of her- did she make audible mistakes?)

She doesn't, I even asked her if she would learn it some time.

It was better than flawless, and she played it faster than on any of her recordings of the piece. Clearly the greatest concert I've been to.

in other words, he has a friend whos parents are in the orchestra or something like that.

and now you realise by looking at that photo, why i have such a crush on ed.

ed's hair looks a tad unkempt due to the windy conditions outside, but noah's hair appears to have gone unscathed - as though it is cast in granite.

I went to the concert as well. The 2 guys sitting behind me didn't attend the second part of the concert probably they went to see Argerich backstage. They had a minidisc player probably to record the concert, and they actually left their bag unattended after the interval. Were that you guys ?

By the way, Argerich is going to play in duo with Nelson Freire in Paris on the 27th and 28th of May ...

That sure was us ! Were you the guy with a palm thing with a camera on it ? The one who coughed during the 4th variation in the second movement ?
I don't know what you're talking about with that minidisc   :-[

I know she's playing in Paris, but the 27th is sold out, and I can't make the 28th  :(

Yeah what a small world :)

I thought Argerich played wonderfully. But I'm a bit disappointed by the concert hall and the orchestra was really bad all the way I thought  :'(

I bought tickets for the concert on the 28th, I'm really impatient now ....
