Any advice for a 1st time competitor
on: July 02, 2007, 07:38:02 PM
Hi everyone,
I'm going to take part in the Richmond Fest. This will be my 1st competition that i've ever been in. Any advice?
I'm going to participate in 2 categorys, 1 competitive and 1 non-competitive. For the competitive, I'll be participating in an Open Concert Group which requires 1 Bach Concerto Piece, 1 Classical Sonata and 1 Concert Etude. For the non-competive i'll be participating in a recital class which requires any 3 contrasting works.

Open Concerto Group
Bach- Partita No. 2 in C minor (Sinfonia)
Haydn- Sonata in E flat major Hob XVI/49;L/59 (1st and 3rd movement)
Chopin- Etude in F major Op.10 No.8

Recital Class
Bach- Partita No. 2 in C minor (Sinfonia)
Beethoven- Sonata in A major Op.2 No.2 (1st and 3rd movement)
Rachmaninoff- Prelude in G sharp minor Op.32 No.12

What do all of you think? My teacher decided on this because she wants to give me a chance to compete with my Chopin Etude and motivate my to learn my New Beethoven Sonata fast and see how well it turns out.
