Do pianists have ghey voices?
on: July 04, 2007, 11:12:54 PM

I'm just like WOAH, most modern pianists have pretty ghey ways of talking.

I have a deep manly voice, with a stunningly smooth english accent, and yet - I play piano.

Hamelin is a legend, nice rich voice also.

this guy sounds gayer. I hate when he says "I like to call it the ocean etude because it reminds me of the waves of the ocean" i don't know why, maybe cuz it seems like he thinks he came up with the name.

lol; there's plenty of pianists with really great voices.

Maybe weaker voices in general.

Example?

Admittedly I was thinking mainly of non-professional pianists I know. For professionals, I think Hamelin and Nakamatsu have really nice voices- as well as Hough, which is extremely ironic... Kapell had a great voice, and I love Gould's, though it's a bit weird, lol.

Spencer Meyer and I had some friends in common.  He went to Juilliard. He's a very nice guy and a good pianist.  And his boyfriend is really cool.  Theater major.  That was a few years ago--I don't know if they're still together.

At work we were listening to a CBC series - The Concerto According to Manny.  Featuring Emanuel Ax...  We both thought he sounded like Kip from Futurama.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31. Piano Street’s members are invited to watch the livestream. Read more
