I played the Wanderer Fantasy at a recital. The last movement -- the fugue --is marked "allegro."
This woman came up to me afterward and said, "you know that one song you played at the end of your concert--'allegro'--well, I think they played 'allegro' at my wedding. I think that's why I liked it so much."
I just stared at her in disbelief.
It's an original idea though--brides marching down the aisle to that.
Anyway, I think I'm going to start calling pieces by their tempos. When people ask me to play, I'll be like, "this one's called 'vivace' and the next one is called 'presto'." Or maybe I'll call some wedding pianists and request that they play 'andante' at my wedding.
