Steinway's double keyboard piano
on: July 15, 2007, 08:02:59 AM
Apparently Steinway once made a double-keyboard piano, and it's recently been restored. The New York Times has a video clip about it which can be found at:
https://video.on.nytimes.com/?mkt=videourl
The video shows Christopher Taylor playing some of the Goldberg 2-manual variations.

It didn't make me register. Interesting story!
Here's a shortcut to the video without searching for it:

Fantastic!! I love it. I hope Steinway builds more. I played the Golbergs, and they were a pain on one manual. Gyorgy Sandor in his book "On Piano Playing" talked about the Moore Duplex piano and said he hopes it makes a return. He says the technique would be the same as for regular piano, but the possibilities would be greater.
